E CORRUGATED DISPLAY BOARD

E Flute Corrugated Board

A fine-profile single-wall board used where print quality, compact folds and precise die-cut detail matter.

DIRECT DEFINITION

What is E board?

E flute is a single-wall corrugated construction with one fine E-flute medium between two liners. Its low profile can provide a comparatively smooth presentation surface, but the approved paper combination and finished structure—not the flute letter alone—determine performance.

TECHNICAL STARTING POINT

How the construction behaves.

Construction
Single wall · E flute · two liners and one corrugated medium
Typical caliper
FEFCO indicative flute height: 1.0 to under 1.9 mm, excluding facings. Finished board caliper varies by papers and corrugator profile.
Print profile
A fine profile suited to detailed flexographic work and to printed-sheet or litho lamination when a premium graphic face is required.
Structural profile
Compact and precise for lighter display components, trays and branded surfaces; shelf spans and concentrated loads require validation.
COMMON DISPLAY FIT

Where E is considered.

  • Compact PDQ and counter displays
  • Shelf-ready trays
  • Product sleeves and branded wraps
  • Lightweight hanging displays
  • Graphic panels and inserts
WHY IT CAN WORK

Practical advantages.

  • Fine presentation surface
  • Clean scoring and die-cut detail
  • Compact folded thickness
  • Efficient for smaller retail structures
WHAT MUST BE CONFIRMED

Project-specific checks.

  1. 01Product weight and contact points
  2. 02Shelf or tray span
  3. 03Print and lamination method
  4. 04Liner colour and paper combination
  5. 05Prototype fit, assembly and loaded test
FREE STRUCTURAL SAMPLE

Target ready in about 2 working days.

Free unprinted structural sample — target ready in about 2 working days after the product data and structure are confirmed. Courier freight and complex printed prototypes are confirmed separately.

Timing begins after the technical brief is complete.
DIRECT ANSWERS

E material questions

Requirements vary by product, retailer and programme. These are the practical starting points.

What are the real corrugated flute categories shown here?

E, B and C are single-wall profiles. EB and BC combine two flutes in a five-paper double-wall board. EBC combines E, B and C in a seven-paper triple-wall board where that grade is available. Exact profile tolerances and paper combinations must be confirmed with the corrugator.

Does the flute code alone define board strength?

No. Flute profile is only one input. Liner and medium papers, basis weights, recycled or virgin fibre content, flute direction, moisture, scoring and the finished structure all affect performance. Final selection should be tied to a documented board combination and prototype test.

What is the difference between EB and BC flute?

Both are double-wall boards. EB combines fine E flute with B flute and is often selected when graphics and die-cut detail matter. BC combines B and C flutes, creating a deeper section that is often considered for heavier or larger structures.

Is EB + BC a standard flute code?

No. EB and BC are separate double-wall constructions. EBC is a documented triple-wall combination with E, B and C flutes. A custom laminate made from separate sheets would need its own approved lay-up and must not be described as equivalent to EBC.

Can DisplayNexa provide a free material sample?

Free unprinted structural sample — target ready in about 2 working days after the product data and structure are confirmed. Courier freight and complex printed prototypes are confirmed separately.

How quickly can the structural sample be prepared?

The target for a straightforward unprinted structural sample is about 2 working days after complete product dimensions, weight, configuration and the proposed structure are confirmed. Printing, special hardware and complex prototypes can require a separately confirmed schedule.

How is a board approved for a loaded retail display?

Approval should combine the paper and flute specification with product-fit review, flute direction, shelf-span analysis, a physical prototype and a project-appropriate load and handling test. DisplayNexa does not publish one universal weight rating for a flute type.
